I have been writing about science, health and environment for more than 20 years, as both staff writer and freelancer, for a variety of publications.  I also write and photograph how-to books for homeowners and for professional builders. I have extensive experience in revising and rewriting textbooks and journal articles, a long list of magazine and website credits in these publications, and extensive experience in writing about business and finance.

whyfiles.org is an electronic magazine that was started in 1996 by the National Science Foundation and the University of Wisconsin-Madison to cover what we call the "science behind the news." As the founding feature writer, I write most of the magazine. I also find images, write captions, select hotlinks, compile the bibliography, and contribute to decisions on story selection and site architecture.
